Before the clocks kept time

Ok then! Finally stoped making such a huge mess with the plaster.......for now.

Got two new molds, the small one is actually made of my face. Don't know how well that will go =p
The bigger one (wich is weighting a ton! hope it will get a little lighter as it dries) was made all by hand. That's the one I was testing. Seems like it turned out ok by the newspaper test (newspaper is terrible to work with btw @.@) and I'll start with the decent paper this next week.

It goes for this sketch:

Of course it's not gonna be exactly like it (God am I horrible at modeling clay!). Took me more then a few days to get it slightely the way I wanted.

I'm also gonna work other colors on it, I already have two "characters" for this mold (influenced by the songs at the time as always ;D).

'Cause I'll tell you everything about

So! I'm getting ready for the exposition I'll be having at Alliance Française Maringá, and I've spent the last couple of weeks figuring out the masks I'm gonna make. I'm running a test to one of them and I'll post the results soon.

In the meanwhile I've been thinking about the bags too. This is what's coming next:
(note that that's not the accurate color of the fabrics....I tried my best but the camera didn't help...)

It will be a little backpack. And I'm not posting the model 'cause I just sketched it out and it's a mess....... But I'll post pictures of it as it goes foward.
I also have a new love affair: Pinterest.com <.3

And then POP goes my heart

Yesterday...Mika's show on Planeta Terra Festival. It was so amazing. We were kindda afraid people who were there for the other bands were going to cause some kind of problem, but it was perfect. So perfect.

We wen't to the front two bands before him, and for everyone's surprise he was the very first one that actually made us start being crushed against the bars XD and everyone partcipated when he asked, and jumped together and sang (!) together. Really. Couldn't have been better.

Specially because...........we met him after the show <.3 He's such a sweet heart, let us all in to take pictures.
He seemed so happy during the concert. Guess that's all that really matters to me :}
Hoppe he'll come back soon ^ ^

Oh, and yeah...my camera didn't take good pictures from the stage =_= but I'll borrow from someone else latter :}

Pour your heart out

Ok! After 45 min of internet problems I finally managed to post! (I hope)

I started these converses 2 years ago, after I came back from Italy(first time). Yes. And no, I haven't been working on it for 2 years, I just forgot about it ('cause it was hard to paint at home) and I started it back now, since I decided to wear it to the Planeta Terra Festival next weekend.
Almost done :) I just have to make colorful laces for it now ^ ^

And. I decided to change some things on the back of the t-shirt I'm painting. Here's a piece of it :

The front is all good :} So there. That's what I'll be wearing to the concert, if I finally get the courage to use it. It might've taken me about 50 to 60 hours to make, considering finding all the art, making the drawings, passing into transparent paper, figure out a place for each one, passing them to the t-shirt and than painting(trying to get the colors as close as possible to the originals).
Although the worst images I had were from the rug from WAG, it was Dr. John who gave me the hardest time o.õ Dunno why. He's in the back btw.

I must say all his work's being a huge influence <.3

Hooray!

So here it is, a preview of my something to wear to Mika's first appearance here in Brazil.
It's taking sooo long to paint, I had no idea I'd need so many hours! But it's getting quite fancy <.3 It's front and back, I'll post the whole thing once I finish it (hopefully by this weekend).

And I'm still hunting for the black 'n white oxfords that refuse to exist in my size....

Reminds that there's time to change

Pictures from the Bienal Brasileira de Design! (Brazilian Design Biennial)

I know I haven't written the last post in portuguese yet but....(I like to write in english better.Shh. Don't tell anyone.)

I particularly enjoyed the exposition on raw materials.

Natural rubber.

Curauá. It's a plant similar to pineapple, and it's been used make fibers, from fabric to something similar to glass fiber.

Fish skin. It's being made as an alternative material for bags, jewelry, shoes and etc. Also helps with the problem of disposing all the skin that is left from the food industry.

Stoll made of cardboard and fabric (they can take up to 130 kilos).

A pretty flower in a vase

Well, it's been a while! Mostly 'cause I haven't been founding anything to post really =p I've been working at something, but I'm not going to show it just yet (it's something for Mika's concert at the Planeta Terra Festival in november).
I've been in Curitiba the last week, and staying 'till sunday, mostly for the Bienal Brasileira de Design. Already went to the part of it at MON (Museu Oscar Niemeyer) wich's about raw materials, and it was awesome. A lot of things being developed on natural fibers and rubber, and in the second part how recyclables are being re-used in all sorts of ways.

And of course, went a little shopping for books (can't resist a bookstore...) and fabrics. Awesome artichoke printed fabric! (I find artichokes amazingly beautiful btw... didn't know they blossomed 'till a few months ago). There was this little restaurant in the way I always took to go to the Leather school, and they always had sunflowers or blossomed artichokes on a little round table on the front, that's the first time I really saw one, although someone had told me about that some time before.

So many reasons why

Just so you'll know what I've been working at....They're not done yet though. I believe I'll wait 'till all four are finished and them I'll post a picture of the wall with all of them hanged togheter.

(this one is going on a particularly weird way, I just wen't crazy on it...)

I actually had some really annoying problems with this one...there were some spots where the paint just wouldn't dry....and peel of as I tried to add the next layer. Took me a while to figure out and fix it.

In any other world

So I found a place to work! It's been a couple of weeks actually, but I lost my cameras bateries, and had to borrow, so it took me a while. It is devided in three parts, a big room, a smaller one right in the entrance and a balcony (also love).
Big windows and natural light is love <.3

This is the big room. A little messy still, but hey, I'm one table and some shelfs short, so a lot of things are sitting out of place.

This is in the entrance. For now I only have this one bookshelf, but there's still a little space on the side, so I'm thinking on what to put there.

And this is just something for decoration I've finished today. Will probably put a Kokeshi doll in it.

Oxfords or Brogues?

So, as I said in the last post, I decided to do here a little explanation about oxford and brogue shoes. Why? Because the oxford shoe is becoming really famous here in Brazil in this summer collections, and it wasn't until I got one that I found out about this difference.

For starters, let's explain what is broguing. It's a particular type of decoration, made by punching holes to make patterns along the seams.
And what are the brogues? They are heavy leather shoes, originated in Scoland and Ireland, with open lacing and usually made in natural tones, as they were traditional men's country shoes, made for outdoors.
The Full brogue, would be the ones with W shaped toe cap, and the Half-brogue would be the one with a round cut toe cap, although today this may refer to the degree of broguing in closed lacing shoes, like the Oxfords.

The Oxfords, also originated in Scotland and Ireland (and also called Balmorals), may or may not be brogued, and it's level of formality can depend on the type of leather it is made of, and the details like plain toes (more formal) or capped toes (less formal). As so, they can vary from being realy formal to daytime shoes.

My etchings and birthday gift

First of all, I would really like to post my etchings in a whole piece here....But it's freaking impossible. I don't know if it's because of the glass, but the colors come out all weird, kindda yellow in the first two, and in the last one...well, it's just a disaster.

So what I'm posting now are pieces from the first and second, and an older one from the second that didn't come out that bad.

This is a piece of Camelia

And this from Hortensia

and this is the whole Hortensia piece. They are all framed togheter.

They are from a series of etchings and drawings I'm making, wich I started based in a book I got of Pierre-Joseph Redoute botanical prints. Now I look for any kinds of references, books, internetor even taking pictures on the street.

And last, but not least, my new lilac brogued shoes!! Next post I'll write about them. I just found out that there are little particular details that make a difference between brogue shoes (full anf half), oxford shoes and brogueing.

I'm trying really hard not to forget about the blog, I swear...But I don't really have a lot of stuff going on these days....

I was trying to find a place where I could have my workshop and a Pa kua space all together, and I did find a house for rent....and the cityhall blocked me =_= turns out I'd have to live there too....
So, as I don't want to sit around doing nothing until I find a place, I got one just for the workshop for now. Will start on the masks next week.
And here's the one I made during the course:

And sunday is my birthday 8D giving myself a soft purple oxford shoe ( I was actually looking for the black and white one, but they are out of stock ;A;)

Just some other random things from the trip.

This is Ponte Vecchio, from the Piazzale Michelangelo

This is Santa Maria Novella, right around the corner from our apartment

And this. Thiiis was the responsible for my 15 extra pounds last time I came to Italy! (of course I know it's all my fault, I shouldn't eat a hole package a day XD)

And, as people who know me already figured, I have a thing with windows. Yes. Because not many things annoy me as much as a crappy window. And this....this was my bedroom window. And it was so freaking perfect. It didn't make weird sound with the wind, the locks would fit perfectly and it blocked all the sound from the outside. I mean, really. There was a bar just outside our door that kept open with tables on the outside until 3 in morning. Couldn't hear a thing.

And this is...well, me. I'm terrible at taking pictures of myself, just don't know how to do it. Just trying to show that I cut my hair in the last days (that's how bored I was...) Yeah, you can't see squat XD
